What Is Angelyne's Net Worth?

Angelyne is an American singer, actress, model, and media personality who has a net worth of $500 thousand. She became a Los Angeles cultural icon in the 1980s after appearing on a number of billboard advertisements that typically showed her posing suggestively with the name "Angelyne" in large cursive font. She was not promoting a product. Angelyne was instead promoting herself as a celebrity.

Her homegrown advertising campaign led to an appearance on Alan Thicke's talk show, "Thicke of the Night," in 1983, and she has also had small roles in films such as "The Frisco Kid" (1979), "Earth Girls Are Easy" (1988), "The Underground Comedy Movie" (1999), and "The Disaster Artist" (2017). Angelyne has released the albums "Angelyne" (1982), "Driven to Fantasy" (1986), and "Beauty & the Pink" (2000) and the singles "Kiss Me L.A.," "Animal Attraction," "I'm So Lucky," and "Sexy Heart." Angelyne's billboards have been featured in numerous film and television projects, including "Moonlighting" (1986), "Get Shorty" (1995), "The Day After Tomorrow" (2004), "Rock of Ages" (2012), and "Terminator Genisys" (2015), and she is known for driving a pink Corvette around L.A.

Early Life

Angelyne was born Ronia Tamar Goldberg on October 2, 1950, in Chmielnik, Poland. Her parents were Holocaust survivors, and after the family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Los Angeles' Fairfax District, Angelyne began going by the name Renee Tami Goldberg. She studied at James Monroe High School in North Hills, California.

Rise to Fame

In 1978, Angelyne joined the punk rock band Baby Blue, which featured her then-boyfriend, and the band performed in L.A. clubs and opened for The Screamers at the Whisky a Go Go. Baby Blue released the 1978 single "Rock n' Roll Rebel" / "Fantasy Man," which was limited to 1,000 copies and only distributed in England. In 1979, Angelyne released the single "Too Much to Touch," followed by her debut self-titled album in 1982. That year she met Hugo Maisnik, the wealthy inventor of Hugo's Amazing Tape, while she was attempting to enlarge a poster of herself to the size of a billboard. Maisnik owned a local display-printing business, and in early 1984, Angelyne's first billboard went up, proclaiming "Angelyne Rocks." In 1986, she released the album "Driven to Fantasy" on her label, Pink Kitten, and the following year, an 85-foot high mural of Angelyne was painted on a building at Hollywood and Vine. That year she also began recording songs with Michael "Doc" Dosco, and their collaboration "Animal Attraction" was featured in the 1988 film "Earth Girls Are Easy." In 1995, she was the subject of the documentary short "Angelyne," which was directed by Robinson Devor and Michael Guccione, and around this time, she was on more than 200 Los Angeles billboards.

In 1997, Angelyne began offering Hollywood tours on her website, and in 1998, she starred in the short film "The Angelyne Dream Experience" and started painting self-portraits.

In 2013, she entered into a deal with designer Michael Kuluva to serve as the face of a t-shirt for Kuluva's Tumbler and Tipsy clothing line. It was rumored that the deal was worth between $300,000 and $500,000.

Political Campaigns

In 2003, she ran for governor of California, finishing in 28th place (out of 135) with 2,536 votes. During her campaign, Angelyne used the slogan "We've had Gray, we've had Brown, now it's time for some blond and pink."

In 2021, she was a candidate with no party preference in the California gubernatorial recall election. Governor Gavin Newsom was not recalled, but out of 46 candidates, Angelyne finished in 18th place.

Peacock TV Series

In 2020, Peacock ordered a series based on Angelyne's life starring Emmy Rossum, and it was announced that Angelyne would be executive producing the series.

The five-part limited series was released in May 2022.
