What Is Dario Minieri's Net Worth?
Dario Minieri is an Italian professional poker player who has a net worth of $10 million. Dario Minieri rose to fame after winning the 2008 World Series of Poker at the age of 23. He is known for being a high-stakes heads-up specialist.
Early Life
Dario Minieri was born on February 10, 1985, in Rome, Italy. He later moved to the United States and attended Farragut High School. After finishing high school, he attended the University of North Texas, where he began studying psychology. However, he ultimately decided to drop out in order to pursue poker as his main focus.
Career
Minieri realized he had a skill for poker in his early twenties. In 2006, he did well at the World Series of Poker, making a semi-deep run in the Main Event of the competition. Later in 2006, he finished in third play at the European Poker Tour and took home a total of $160 thousand in winnings. He played online on PokerStars and earned so many Frequent Player Points from his wins that he was able to purchase a Porsche Cayman S. from the PokerStars store. He was the first player to ever do so in 2007.
Minieri did not do as well in the 2007 World Series of Poker. Though at one point he was the chip leader after the third day, he ended up coming in 96th place at the event. However, he did much better at the 2008 event. Dario won his first bracelet at the World Series of Poker in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Six-handed event. He beat the other 1,012 players to win $528,418 in cash, his highest earning to date.
He also did well at the European Poker Tour in Sanremo, Italy. He held the chip lead at the beginning of the final table and ended up finishing in third place, earning just over $450,000. In his final hand of the tournament, he was playing against Jason Mercier, who ended up eliminating Minieri. Mercier went on to win the event. Later that year, Dario made a second European Poker Tour final table in Warsaw, where he again finished in third place, earning just over $150,000.
In 2009, he won nearly $50,000 at the World Poker Tour event in Venice. Later that year, he won almost $80,000 at the European Poker Tour in Warsaw, an event he placed first in. In 2010, he won just over $50,000 at the Italian Poker Tour in Sanremo.
Dario has continued competing in the years that followed, though has not earned such large winnings. He finished eighth at the 44th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in 2013, winning just over $26,000. He primarily has continued competing in the United States and Italy.
Personal Life
Minieri does not publicize much about his personal life. He is not known to be romantically connected to anyone. Outside of playing poker, he enjoys playing soccer, watching movies, and going on drives in his Porsche.
