Personal Life and Philanthropy

In December 2002, Cheryl wed Paul Young, the founder of the management firm Principato-Young. The couple had a daughter named Catherine and divorced in 2010. Subsequently, Hines started dating environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. They married in 2014. Kennedy began serving as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in February 2025.

After her nephew was born with cerebral palsy, Hines contacted and soon became involved with the charitable organization United Cerebral Palsy. She serves on the group's board of trustees and helped win $25,000 for the organization on an episode of "Celebrity Family Feud."

Real Estate

In September 2014, a few months after marrying, Robert and Cheryl paid $4.995 million for a compound in Malibu. They sold this home in June 2017 for a bit over $6 million to Kenny G's ex-wife Lyndie Benson.

The same month as their Malibu sale, Robert and Cheryl paid $5.2 million for a mansion in LA's Brentwood neighborhood, specifically an area called Mandeville Canyon. The Cape Cod-style home is 4,908 square feet, with six bedrooms, and 5.5 bathrooms. The entryway leads to a formal living room with oak hardwood floors, built-in cabinetry, wood-beamed ceilings, and a stone fireplace. The formal dining room has built-in shelves, a wood ceiling, and a Dutch door that opens into the backyard. The galley-style kitchen has tile floors with granite and butcher block countertops. The master suite has a step-up soaking tub surrounded by marble, twin vanities, two master closets, and a fireplace. The backyard area has a brick terrace with a fire pit, swimming pool, and spa. The rustic-style guest house is located above the garage, fully equipped with a small kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom.
