Born William Bonemer Júnior on November 16, 1963, in São Paulo, Brazil, he is the current editor-in-chief and anchorman of the most-watched Brazilian news program Jornal Nacional. A graduate with a degree in Mass Communications from the University of São Paulo, he started his professional career in 1983 in advertising. After two years, he joined TV Bandeirantes in São Paulo, where he served as an announcer and presenter. In 1986, he moved to Rede Globo in São Paulo to become an editor and presenter of a local television news show, SPTV. He also hosted Fantástico in 1988 and he moved to Rio de Janerio one year later. There, he presented Jornal da Globo, from 1989 to 1992, alongside Fátima Bernardes. In the period between 1994 and 1996, he was editor-in-chief and newscaster for the program Jornal Hoje. While on April 1996, he acquired his current position as lead anchor on Jornal Nacional, alongside Patrícia Poéta. Recently, he released a book called Jornal Nacional: Modo de Fazer, which documents the history of the show ever since its beginning 40 years ago.
