What is Ronald Joyce's Net Worth?

Ronald Joyce is a Canadian businessman who has a net worth of $1.3 billion. Known as the "Doughnut King", Ronald Joyce teamed up with former NHL player Tim Horton to establish the Tim Hortons fast food and doughnut chain in 1964. A former policeman, Joyce met his future partner in the early 1960s when he stopped by at Tim Horton Donut Shop while on patrol. By 1967, he became Horton's full partner as he opened up two more restaurants under the same name. After the unfortunate death of Tim Horton in 1974, Joyce acquired his partner's shares and became sole owner.

He successfully ran the business until 1995 when he sold the company to Wendy's for $600 million. But after the purchase, he became the fast food chain's largest shareholder, gaining more than 16 million shares. By 2003, he had freed from all of his Wendy's shares and since he has diversified his portfolio, buying shares in well-established Canadian companies and industries that generate considerable dividend income. Today, he owns an aircraft charter company and the Fox Harb'r golf resort on the north shore of Nova Scotia. In addition, he serves as chairman emeritus of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation.
