What is Park Hyeon-Joo's Net Worth?
Park Hyeon-Joo is a South Korean businessman who has a net worth of $1 billion. Park Hyeon-Joo founded Mirae Asset in 1997 and introduced mutual funds to South Korea. He is credited with building the company from the rubble of the Asian Financial Crisis. Park Hyeon-Joo's role model is cited as Genghis Khan, the 13th-century Mongolian warrior who conquered much of Asia and laid the groundwork for an empire that would span most of Asia and Central Europe. Hyeon-Joo cites his mother as his greatest teacher. Mirae operates on the premise that consumerism will continue to greatly expand in Asia.
Mirae developed exchange-traded funds that are particularly popular. The country's largest asset-management company today, Mirae Asset was forced to close its first overseas branch (Hong Kong) in 2013. The dipping trend continued, and in November 2013, Koo Jae-Sang quit as CEO of Mirae Global Investments. Park Hyeon-Joo earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Korea University and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2002. In 2014, Mirae Asset launched Horizons Korea KOSPI 200 ETF, the lowest cost Korea ETF in the U.S. market, featuring the broadest Korean index exposure. That same year, Park Hyeon-Joo rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
