What is Nicholas Pritzker's Net Worth?

Nicholas Pritzker is an American entrepreneur and investor who has a net worth of $1.4 billion. Born Nicholas J. Pritzker in 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, he serves as the Chairman and CEO of the Hyatt Development Corporation, a company that provides both hotel and motel real estate development and management services. A Doctor of Law from the University of Chicago, he got his first taste of wealth as an heir to the extended Pritzker family's Hyatt hotel group. Nicholas Pritzker is the nephew of A.N. Pritzker, the founder of the industrial conglomerate Marmon Holdings and the Hyatt Hotel, along with his sons, Jay and Robert. Whereas Marmon was sold to Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway in 2007, the extended Pritzker family has continued to sell assets that are owned jointly. Over the years, Pritzker has expanded his inherited fortune further, mainly through his new hotel development efforts and his wise investments. Speaking of his acquisitions, he put an unspecified amount into the notable electric car company Tesla Motors via his investment partnership Tao LLC. Having retired in 2009, he dedicated himself to an active fight against death penalty. In his effort, he teamed up with Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and DFS cofounder Chuck Feeney to revoke the death sentence in California in the 2012 election. Even though Pritzker and Feeney each made $1 million contribution for the repeal, it turned out unsuccessful as voters chose to keep the controversial law.
