Neal Patterson was an American business executive who had a net worth of $1.7 billion. Neal Patterson was the CEO of Cerner Corporation – a Kansas City-based medical software corporation, earned his wealth from the ever-growing effort to digitize health systems. Cerner serves as a provider of health IT systems and electronic health records to doctors' offices and hospitals. Co-founded in 1979, Patterson's business has been consistently growing since it was publicly offered in 1986. A major surge in the company's stock of 44% was also noticed in 2013 when the Congress passed a law that inflicts penalties on health systems that don't make enough progress in going digital.
Patterson decided to hand over part of his role at the company in September 2013, giving the president's job to Cerner veteran Zane Burke. However, he still remains CEO and chairman.
