What is Edson de Godoy Bueno's Net Worth?
Edson de Godoy Bueno is a Brazilian billionaire and businessman who has a net worth of $2.7 billion. Edson de Godoy Bueno acquired his riches from Amil, a health plan company that he founded in 1972 along with his then-wife Dulce. While Edison was studying at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, he honed his practical skills working at a clinic. Upon his graduation in 1971, he bought the struggling clinic and it turned into Brazil's largest health care company, today's Amil, which added more than 15 companies only in the last few years.
Actually, it has became so appealing that giant U.S. health insurer United Health Group, bought a 90% stake in Amil on its way to expand into Latin America in 2012, paying $4.9 billion in the process. More precisely, UHG bought 30% of the listed Amil from public shareholders and 60% from the Buenos. As part of the deal, the Buenos retained only 10% of Amil and Edson kept his position as Amil's CEO. Thus, he became the first foreigner to join the board of United Health, as well as one of the largest individual shareholders of the group, with 0.8%.
