David Walentas is an American businessman who has a net worth of $2.4 billion. David Walentas was raised in Rochester, New York and graduated from the University of Virginia and the Darden Business School. He is known for building the Brooklyn neighborhood Dumbo into one of New York's hottest areas. As a young man Walentas worked at a farm and shoveled manure and milked cows. In the late 1970s he paid $12 million for two million square feet of old industrial buildings.
He now owns over 15 properties in New York. His company Two Trees Management has become a prime developer in New York City. In 2012 they paid $185.5 million for 11 acres of prime waterfront property in Brooklyn which is also known as the Domino Sugar Refinery development project. David's son Jed took the reins in 2011. In October 2019 David Walentas pledged $100 million to the University of Virginia.
