What is Charles Brandes' Net Worth?
Charles Brandes is an American businessman and investor who has a net worth of $1 billion. One of the few closely followed value investors today, Mr. Brandes founded his well-established Brandes Investment Partners, in 1974. Based in San Diego, California, the firm now has over $28.9 billion under management, which is way down from the $120 billion it managed back in March 2007. Born in 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Brandes took his Bachelor's degree in economics from Bucknell University, after which he proceeded to San Diego State University. Upon graduation, Brandes trained to become a stockbroker and then he met Ben Graham.
Thus, he was able to learn firsthand Graham's techniques for determining undervalued investment securities. Aside from being a successful investor and a CFA charterholder for more than 25 years, Charles Brandes has also established himself as a great philanthropist. Along with his third wife Tanya, he started the Tanya & Charles Brandes Foundation that supports the San Diego Symphony and Elton John's Aids Foundation. Not surprisingly, Sir Elton performed at Charles and Tanya's 2006 wedding.
