What is Allan Slaight's Net Worth?
Allan Slaight was a Canadian media magnate who had a net worth of $1.2 billion at the time of his death. Long before becoming a billionaire, Allan Slaight started his career in radio in 1948 when he joined the oldies-format radio station CHAB based in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Slaight saw a rapid rise in the industry as he became General Manager of a Toronto radio station CHUM in 1965. At the time, he purchased several radio stations in Toronto and Montreal, after which he merged with IWC Communications and eventually bought Standard Broadcasting Corporation in 1985. It was in 2007 that he sold fifty-three radio and two television stations to Astral Media for CAD 880 million and 4.75 million in Astral shares. In early 2012, Slaight and his wife, Emmanuelle Gattuso, made a CAD 50 million pledge to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, increasing their total commitment to the organization to CAD 72 million. Allan Slaight died on September 19, 2021 at the age of 90.
