He had 51 total fights with a record of 46 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw with 30 knockouts. Tuur won a bronze medal at the 1987 Turin European Amateur Championships as a featherweight. He gained fame when he knocked out world champion American Kelcie Banks during the first round of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
