If you recall the headlines in April, Birdman had tweeted with a pic that he was buying the Maybach Exelero, a one-of-a-kind coupe selling for $8 million. He has again made headlines, with the current owner, European entrepreneur Arnaud Massartic, saying he hasn't received the giant suitcase full of cash from Birdman. The least Birdman could do is send a giant bottle of Ace of Spades Campaign with a apology note, saying the G6 with the suitcase is just fueling up to deliver it. Let me fill you in on this on the history of this infamous Maybach, before it's fate was almost sealed as the car that Birdman would be used to pick up Lil' Wayne up from school or jail.

The Maybach Exelero was originally built as a concept vehicle to showcase a new line of high-end tires called Exelero. The Fulda Reifenwerke tire company in collaboration with the Pfrzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design held a contest for their students to design the car. 24 year old Fredrik Burchhardt won and he got to work with the Maybach design center in Sindelfingen to bring it to life. The Excelero was built off the Maybach 57 limousine and re-engineered to make it a coupe. They moved the doors and a-pillar back and had to relocate the steering column, pedals and gearshift. They then took the already powerful twin-turbo V12 engine and bored it out to 5.9 liters. After tuning, the engine now reaches 700hp and 738lb ft of torque, reaching 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 218mph. If you consider that this coupe is 19 feet long and weights around three tons, you're essentially riding in a two-door bullet train. Also, the official website lists the fuel economy EPA city/highway as "N.A.". And when a car's gas millage is "not applicable" it's probably in the negative range.
While he may miss owning this one of a kind, Birdman is in the fifth richest rapper with a nine-figure net worth, with no shortage of custom or luxury whips. He even claims to buy around a hundred cars every six months, after giving away the old ones. For his most baller rides, his custom red Bugatti Veyron comes in at around $2 million Its W16 1200hp engine can run through a tank of gas in 12 minutes. The annual upkeep on a Veyron is around $300,000 a year, comparable to a private jet.
Outside of a couple run-of-the-mill Maybachs, Birdman also owns a Maybach 62 Landaulet. What makes this limo special is it's a semi convertible, with a sliding roof for the rear passengers, along with an upgraded turbo V12 engine producing 612hp. The Landaulet edition goes for about $1.5 million, with one selling for even higher on eBay for $2.2 million.
You should also note, before Birdman's tweet about buying the Exelero in April, the coupe was featured in Jay-Z's "Lost Ones" video last October. Now earlier this month, Jay-Z and Kanye Tore-up a Maybach for their new viedo "Otis". Then the news of Birdman skipping out on the bill came out… With Jay-Z the current king and style-leader in hip hop, maybe this video gave Birdman cold feet? Maybe he's been secretly ripping up his existing Maybachs to keep up with the trend? Just like with Jigga's clothing and watch choices, we'll have to just wait and see what he's rolling in next. That way he can let other rappers know what whip to buy so they can get their swag in order.
