The Beverly Hills home of Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi is actually more of an estate considering it boasts a 9,200 square foot main house and two guest houses, totaling around 15,000 square feet all on a 3 acre lot. While selling for a hefty $49 million, it's actually at a loss to the couple.

Ellen bought the estate in 2007 for $30 million and is where she held her wedding with Portia in 2008. She then spent millions buying up surrounding property and houses to turn her lot into the compound it is today. Ellen threw another huge pile of cash for renovations and construction to create a complete estate from the surrounding property. The bill for these additions was $48 million, plus the original $30 million making for a staggering grand total of around $78 million. While costing only half of Bill Gates' home, it's the second most expensive home we've covered on Celebrity Net Worth by quite a chunk. So that's why you need a helicopter just to see the whole thing:
This Beverly Hills estate offers the ultimate in luxury and privacy, with state-of-the-art security and views of L.A. And note the area below the pool in the aerial shot, where you'll find their high-end gym. The never-ending outdoor area includes a huge covered patio, gardens and a koi pond. There is even room to throw in a tennis court if Portia asked Ellen for one.
