That's enough to make it the most expensive house for sale in the U.S. right now.
This unbelievable property is located in a town just outside of Miami, halfway between Boca and Fort Lauderdale, called Hillsboro Beach. The mansion is appropriately called "Le Palais Royal". It features 11 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms and 465 feet of beachfront real estate. The property has been under construction since 2009 and wont actually be fully complete until 2015. The land alone was recently appraised at $40 million and the developer claims to have spent an additional $75 million on construction and design. According to public records is a man named Robert Pereira, who founded a Massachusetts-based construction company. The listing agent told reporters that Mr. Pereira is looking to unload the house so he can spend more time traveling on his newly-purchased yacht.

At $139 million, that asking price is enough to be the most expensive house for sale in the U.S. right now. Back at the end of July, rumors circulated that 25 year old Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone was unofficially seeking $150 million for the her house in Beverly Hills (the Spelling mansion). Petra bought the house three years ago for $85 million. The sale has not been officially listed yet, so it doesn't quite count as the most expensive house for sale. In May 2014, an estate in East Hampton, Long Island sold for $147 million. That is currently the record for the most expensive private home ever sold in the United States.
