He formed the band Booker T. and the MGs in 1962 with Steve Cropper, Lewie Steinberg and Al Jackson Jr. The band released several albums and won their first Grammy Award for their song "Cruisin" in 1995. Booker is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has also won a lifetime achievement Grammy. Jones has several solo albums, including "Potato Hole" and "The Road from Memphis," which would later win a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album. Jones received an honorary doctorate degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in 2012. He has been married to his wife, Nanine Warhurst, since 1985.
