Making his career beginnings as a businessman and investor, Vladimir Gruzdev now serves as the governor of Tula Oblast, 125 miles south of Moscow. Born Vladimir Sergeyevich Gruzdev on February 6, 1967 in Korolyov, Moscow Oblast, Russia, he graduated from the Moscow State University before joining the military. Next, he started to manage several shops for fellow billionaire Oleg Boyko, and then set up the supermarket chain Sedmoi Kontinent. Gruzdev decided to sell his share in the company to his partner Alexander Zanadvorov in 2007, right before the financial crisis.
However, his family still has the control of retail network Fashion Continent and owns land near Moscow. In 2010, Gruzdev entered politics with his election to the Moscow City Duma.
