Son of coffee magnate Max Herz, Gunter Herz came into riches along with his siblings when they inherited their father's vast fortune. Gunter has headed the family's Tchibo Holding (now called Maxingvest AG) for 35 years before stepping down as CEO in 2002 and then selling his stake. Actually, it was a family feud that made him and his sister Daniela to sell their combined 40% stake in the company to their mother and three brothers for an estimated $5 billion in 2003.
