Alexander Dzaparidze is a Russian entrepreneur who has a net worth of $1.8 billion. Born Alexander Julyevich Dzaparidze in 1955 in Makhachkala, Russia, he made his wealth as one of the founders of Eurasia Drilling Company (EDC), an oil company. A graduate of the Gubkin Russian State University, Dzhaparidze launched the oil services company PetroAlliance in 1995, and twelve years later, he sold it to the oil tycoon Schlumberger. Then, together with his partners, they founded EDC, and since 2007, Dzhaparidze served as the Chief Executive Officer.
He was company's major shareholder and CEO until 2011, when he sold his stake of 22% in order to purchase a part of Hadar Fund, an investment company. His reason was that he simply wanted to diversify, but there is no clear evidence for the success of the firm. Holding a PhD in Science, Dzhaparidze is a member of the Eurasia Geophysical Society, and he won the award RF Government prize for exceptional achievements in science and technology in 2006.
