What is David and Frederick Barclay's Net Worth?

David and Frederick Barclay are British entrepreneurs who have a net worth of $3.9 billion. Sir David Rowat Barclay and Sir Frederick Hugh Barclay (born on 27 October 1934), are identical twin brothers often refereed as the "Barclay Brothers". The two hold business interest in media, real estate and retail, and they have gained a reputation as reclusive for avoiding publicity. Few years after the death of their father, the Barclay Brothers left school to work in the accounts department at the General Electric Company in 1950. By the end of the 50s, Frederick and his other brother, Douglas, were running Candy Corner, tobacconists and confectioners, but in 1960, the business went bankrupt.

In the meantime, David was serving as a director of Hillgate Estate Agents, and in 1968, his twin joined the Board. The duo was restoring old boarding houses in London, and remade them into hotels. In 1975, they bought their first hotel, the Howard Hotel, and since then, the identical twins built up shares in a variety of businesses. The Barclay's empire is growing bigger and bigger, including companies like Ellerman Lines, a shipping company, Littlewoods, a retail company, Yodel, a delivery company, and from the media business, they own The European, The Scotsman, Sunday Business and the whole Telegraph Media Group. Also, they were accused of tax avoidance, by placing property under possession of companies that are registered abroad and controlled through trust funds.
