What is Amy Roloff's Net Worth and Salary?
Amy Roloff is an American entrepreneur and reality television personality who has a net worth of $6 million. Roloff earned her net worth by starring in the TLC reality program "Little People, Big World" (2006–present), which follows Amy, her (now ex) husband Matt, and their four children as they navigate daily life with dwarfism.
In 1990, Matt and Amy purchased a fixer-upper farmhouse in Helvetia, Oregon, and created Roloff Farms, which sits on 34 acres of land and is open to the public during pumpkin season. Approximately 30,000 people visit Roloff Farms every year, and the grounds include a Medieval castle, mine shaft, underground tunnels, and a pirate ship. The Roloffs also had their own pumpkin salsa company, Roloff Farms Salsa.
Early Life
Amy Roloff was born Amy Jo Knight on September 17, 1962, in Michigan. She grew up with mother Patricia, father Gordon (an employee of Ford Motor Company), and siblings Katherine, Cyndi, and Roger. Sadly, Patricia passed away in 2019, and Cyndi died in 2015. Amy was born with achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism that is caused by a DNA change that results in abnormal cartilage formation, but her parents and siblings were all of average size. She attended Franklin High School, and after she graduated from Central Michigan University with a business degree, Amy found a high-tech job in Silicon Valley and later taught early childhood education.
Career
"Little People, Big World" premiered on March 4, 2006, and it has aired more than 340 episodes over 21 seasons. In 2012, TLC aired the six-episode spin-off "Little People Big World: Wedding Farm," and Amy has served as an executive producer on both "Little People, Big World" and "Little People Big World: Wedding Farm." Roloff made her TV debut on a 1993 episode of "Martin," and she has also appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Rachael Ray," "Chelsea Lately," and "Chopped." Amy has published the books "Short and Simple Family Recipes" (2012) and "A Little Me" (2019), and owns Amy Roloff's Little Kitchen, an online baking business. She also has a career as a motivational speaker and has given speeches at the Lakes Health Conference, Women's Power Lunch, and Empowering Women in Business Conference.
Personal Life
Amy and Matt, who has diastrophic dysplasia, met at a Little People of America convention in 1987, and they married on September 12th of that year. In 1990, they welcomed fraternal twins Zachary and Jeremy, followed by daughter Molly in 1993 and son Jacob in 1997. Zachary has achondroplasia like Amy, but Jeremy, Molly, and Jacob are average height. In 2014, Amy and Matt announced that they were trying a trial separation after 26 years together, and in June 2015, they revealed that they were getting divorced. The divorce was finalized in May 2016, and Amy became engaged to real estate agent Chris Marek in September 2019. In 2020, Jacob revealed that he was molested as a child by Chris Cardamone, who was a producer for "Little People, Big World" at the time. Amy responded to her son's public confession with the words "I love you forever and always Jacob. I am proud of you. Now you don't have to feel alone and carry this around anymore." Roloff launched the Amy Roloff Charity Foundation in 2009, and she is a supporter of the Dwarf Athletic Association of America.
Real Estate
As we mentioned earlier in this article, in 1990 Matt and Amy bought their first portion of what would eventually become a 109-acre property in Helvetia, Oregon. They paid $185,000 for the first parcel, eventually buying multiple neighboring parcels. They built a 4,500 square-foot primary home on the property while also eventually adding a number of unique attractions to the grounds. The grounds now include:
- Children's play castle the size of a small home
- 40 foot pirate ship that features several bedrooms
- A replica western town featuring a jail, post office, bank and barbershop
- Replica mountain range
- 3,600 square-foot barn
Matt and Amy continued to co-own the property after their 2006 divorce but in 2019 Matt bought Amy out of her share.
In 2022 Matt put the primary 16-acre section of the property, featuring all of the above amenities, on the market for $4 million. Here's a video tour from the selling agency:
In September 2019, Roloff paid $588,500 for a 3,767 square foot home in Hillsboro, Oregon, just 15 minutes from Roloff Farms. The 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom house was sold to Amy by her fiancé. The home sits on .16 acres and includes a pond, Jacuzzi, marble fireplace, and gigantic pantry.
