During his life, Alfred Taubman was one of the richest people in Michigan. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Alfred Taubman attended the University of Michigan, where he majored in architecture, but did not complete his course of study. He is credited with creating what has become the modern shopping mall concept. He began developing upscale shopping centers in the early 50s, and became widely sought after for his attention to detail and his ability to understand how to make the shopping experience as stress-free as possible.
