Dany Garcia was born on November 29, 1968 in Belleville, New Jersey to Cuban immigrant parents. She has a brother and a sister. For her higher education, Garcia attended the University of Miami, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1992.

Career Beginnings in Finance

After graduating from Miami, Garcia worked as an associate vice president at Merrill Lynch. Later, in 2002, she established her own wealth management firm, JDM Partners LLC.

Seven Bucks Productions

In 2012, Garcia co-founded the production company Seven Bucks Productions with her ex-husband Dwayne Johnson. The company began producing films in 2017, starting with the big-screen adaptation of the television series "Baywatch," starring Johnson. Most of the films produced by Seven Bucks Productions have starred Johnson, including "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" and "Jumanji: The Next Level," "Rampage," "Skyscraper," "Hobbs & Shaw," "Jungle Cruise," "Red Notice," "Black Adam," "Red One," and "The Smashing Machine." Seven Bucks Productions has also produced such films as the documentary "Stuntman," the biographical sports dramedy "Fighting with My Family," and the superhero film "Shazam!" Additionally, it has produced various television series, including the reality series "Wake Up Call" and "The Titan Games," the HBO sports dramedy series "Ballers," and the NBC sitcom "Young Rock." All of those shows featured Johnson in some capacity.

Beyond film producing, Garcia is the founder, CEO, and chair of the Garcia Companies, which oversees a portfolio of food and entertainment brands. Companies in the portfolio include Salt & Straw, ZOA Energy, Acorns, Atom Tickets, Athleticon, and the UFL, the lattermost of which Garcia acquired when it was the XFL. In 2021, Garcia launched a new venture: the lifestyle and fashion brand GSTQ, which consists of curated, ready-to-wear items. Among her other activities, she is a trustee of the University of Miami and the president of the school's alumni association.

Bodybuilding

Garcia is a bodybuilder, and first competed in a bodybuilding competition in 2011. A few years after that, she earned her International Fitness and BodyBuilding Federation pro card. Notably, Garcia is the first-ever athlete in the Women's Physique Division to be signed to the Weider roster.

Garcia first met wrestler Dwayne Johnson when they were both students at the University of Miami. The pair married in 1997, and had a daughter named Simone in 2001. Simone became a professional wrestler under the ring name Ava. In 2008, Garcia and Johnson divorced, although Garcia remained on good terms with her ex-husband and became his manager and strategic advisor as he continued his acting career. In 2014, she married her second husband, bodybuilder Dave Rienzi, who subsequently began working for the Garcia Companies. The couple resides in Los Angeles and Orlando.
