TV Auteur Norman Lear Is Selling His Brentwood Mansion For $40 Million

TV creators don't get much more revered than Norman Lear. He's the architect of such television classics as All in the Family and The Jeffersons, and now Architectural Digest reports that the 97-year-old producer has listed his impressive Brentwood estate for an asking price of almost $40 million.

This is not the first time Lear and his wife, Lyn Davis Lear, have tried to sell the home they bought back in 1995 for about $6.5 million. In 2015, they listed the mansion for $55 million, and after about two years they cut the price to $39.96 million before taking the listing off the market. Now, the listing is back, and at the same lower price.

The centerpiece of the Lear estate is the sprawling 14,000-square-foot main house, reached via the obligatory long, gated driveway. It has seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, and four half baths, with amenities like a double-height library, a home office with (for the books that won't fit in the library) built-in bookshelves, and a professional-caliber home screening room.

Also on the property are a visually elaborate motor court leading to the mansion's entrance, an outdoor fountain, a guest house, living quarters for household staff, offices for on-site security, a tennis court, a gym, a keyhole-shaped swimming pool, and spa. Altogether the estate covers eight acres of land, with plenty of outdoor patios attached to the main house as well as floor-to-ceiling windows inside to better appreciate the views of the surrounding landscape, including canyons, the Pacific coastline, mountains, and the Los Angeles skyline.

It's safe to say that this mansion is even better than a deluxe apartment in the sky, and now it can be yours for the bargain price of $39.96 million. Before you make your offer, you might want to take a look at the home in the video below from Tri-Blend Media:
