Huda Kattan was born on October 2, 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as one of four children of Iraqi parents. Her siblings are Alya, Mona, and Khalid. The family later moved to Cookeville, Tennessee, and then to Dartmouth, Massachusetts. For her higher education, Kattan attended the University of Michigan–Dearborn, where she studied finance.
Career Beginnings
In 2006, Kattan moved to Dubai with her father when her father landed a job as a teacher there. A few years later, she moved to Los Angeles, California to study makeup. Kattan had a number of celebrity clients as a makeup artist in LA, including Eva Longoria and Nicole Richie. Returning to Dubai, she became a makeup artist for Revlon. In the spring of 2010, upon the advice of one of her sisters, Kattan launched a beauty blog through WordPress called Huda Beauty. On the site, she posts makeup tutorials, tips, and hacks.

Using the name of her blog, Kattan launched a cosmetics line in 2013 called Huda Beauty. Her first products were false eyelashes, which she created with her sisters Mona and Alya. The eyelashes were sold through Sephora. Thanks in part to Kim Kardashian's use of the product, the false eyelashes were a big hit. Huda Beauty eventually expanded to offer other products, such as liquid lipsticks, lip liners, foundations, concealers, and eye shadow palettes. The company also offers various skincare products through its WISHFUL line, and fragrances through its Kayali line.
