LeBron James has made more than $200 million during his 14 years in the NBA. That doesn't even include all of his endorsement deals. James has a LIFETIME deal with Nike that is estimated to be worth $1 billion. So the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar isn't hurting for cash, nor will he ever be, basically. That is what makes a recent interview with James and Dwayne Wade so hilarious.
The two basketball superstars and longtime friends sat down with ESPN's Rachel Nichols. Wade teased James about being the cheapest guy in the NBA. James didn't even try to deny the accusation. Instead he laughed and said:
"That is so, so, so, so falsely true."
Wade then told Nichols that James won't use his phone without Wifi and James admitted that was true.
"No. I'm not doing that. I'm not turning on data roaming. I'm not buying no apps. I still got Pandora with commercials."
In case you are unaware, Pandora is a music streaming service. The free version plays a commercial after every four or five songs. To get an ad free experience, users can upgrade to Pandora Plus for the sum of $4.99 a month. But LeBron won't do that.
James said that he will be listening to music on Pandora and a commercial will come on advertising a chance for fans to meet him at an upcoming Cavaliers game. Nichols said:
"You know you're rich, right?"
James replied:
"I'm not paying for it."
In a twist, Pandora's twitter account reached out to James and said:
"Hey @KingJames how about we hook you up with a Premium account so you can ditch the commercials?"
James replied:
"Well…if you insist."
This is hilarious and adorable and just another example of how charming LeBron James is.
