Daddy Yankee made history last week by becoming the first Latin artist in Spotify's history to reach the No. 1 spot on its worldwide chart. Now, just a week later, Daddy Yankee is making some more history in an even bigger way.
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" is now the most streamed track in the history of music. The track has 4.6 billion plays since its release in January. The 4.6 billion plays includes the plays from its original version, and official remix, which features Justin Bieber. Interestingly enough, the track dethroned Justin Bieber's "Sorry," which was previously the most streamed track in music history with 4.38 billion plays to date.
"Despacito" has 1.1 billion plays on Spotify and over 3 billion streams on official YouTube channels.
When speaking on the milestone accomplishment, Fonsi said the following, "Streaming is a connector for audiences worldwide and it has helped my music reach every corner of the planet. It is truly an honor that 'Despacito' is now the most streamed song in history."

In addition to being the most streamed song of all time, the song is also the first Spanish language song to reach No. 1 on Spotify's Global 50 Chart, the first Spanish song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Radio Songs Chart, and the music video for the song is the fastest to ever reach 2 billion views.
