La La Vazquez is an American television personality and author who has a net worth of $30 million. La La Vazquez is best known for her former work as an MTV VJ on the program "Total Request Live", as the host of reality television shows such as "Flavor of Love" and "I Love New York", and for her acting roles in films like "Think Like a Man" (2012) and "Think Like a Man 2" (2014).

She is also known for being married to NBA star Carmelo Anthony. She filed for divorce from Carmelo in June 2021.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Alani Nicole Vázquez was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 25, 1979. She is best known by the nickname La La, and uses her husband's last name Anthony. She describes herself as Afro-Puerto Rican, and both of her parents are of Puerto Rican heritage. She is the eldest of four children, with one younger brother and two younger sisters. When she was just fifteen years old, La La landed an internship at the radio station WHAT-FM, HOT 97.5. After her internship ended, while she was still a high school student, La La was given her own show. Her co-host was rapper Ludacris, and the show was called "Future Flavas". She then attended Howard University and studied communications during her time there, but ultimately did not graduate from college.

Career

Instead of finishing college, when she was nineteen La La took a job at 92.3 The Beat in Los Angeles, where she was given the opportunity to co-host her own radio show, "The B-Syde". She enjoyed a very successful radio career before leaving the station in 2001 to begin working at MTV. Her lack of previous television experience did not hold her back at all, and she quickly became a co-host of two of MTV's most popular shows, "Direct Effect" (2002-2006) and "Total Request Live" (2002).

The series "La La's Full Court Wedding" (2010) documented the planning process leading up to her wedding to Carmelo Anthony, as well as the actual ceremony itself. It inspired a spinoff, "La La's Full Court Life", which aired for five seasons from 2011 to 2014, and followed the wedded couple through their daily life.

In 2003, La La launched her own production company, Krossover Productions. One of the company's more notable projects is the Mike Tyson documentary "Tyson" (2008), which La La served as a producer for. It was directed by Oscar-nominated director James Toback, and actually won the Regard Knockout Award.
