In the market for a new home? How about a home with its own water park? A mansion in El Campo, Texas that comes with the largest residential pool in the world, a 21-foot water slide, a 28-person hot tub, and an adjustable-speed lazy river has just hit the market for $3.5 million.
While most potential homebuyers aren't necessarily looking for a water park, it's hard to not be intrigued by oil industry CEO Mike Mobley's $3.5 million offer. The 40-acre estate isn't just a giant slip n' slide, but includes a 7,312-square-foot home equipped with five bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and a gourmet kitchen, plus extras like an in-home bar and theater, its own arcade, a 10,00-square-foot storage barn, and two guest apartments. The water park? Well, you can just consider that extra.
The main home on the property was constructed in 2005 for current owner Mike Mobley, the CEO of a company that makes accommodations and rents equipment for oil rigs. With well over 7,000 square feet of living space, the spacious mansion boasts everything you might imagine it would (water park aside), from a private elevator to an in-home movie theater. While the estate allegedly costs upwards of $30,000 a year just to maintain, interested buyers should consider the unique deal included in the sale. Not only was the home initially listed at $5 million before the owner slashed the price, but the current $3.5 million asking price is just half a million more than it cost to build the included private water park.
The inside of the home is just as spectacular as what's outside, with surprises such as this oversized built-in living room aquarium included in the price. Each room features its own pristine designs and themes, with rustic wooden floors covering the entryway, formal dining room, and living room and patterned tiling and marble countertops gracing the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen and nook.
The property's water park, Thunder River, is undoubtedly the standout element of this Texas sale. "Everyone has a good time here," Mobley told KTRK ABC 13. "This is a great place to come relax [and] kick back." In fact, the private pool – adorned in waterfalls, rock climbing walls, and rope swings – looks so much like a real water park that Mobley told local reporters he has had to turn people away who mistakenly thought it was open to the public.
While the normal backyard pool usually contains around 18,000 gallons, this gigantic specimen tops out at 600,000 gallons, making it the largest residential pool in the world. The astounding oasis includes not only the large pool, but also a lazy river, a super-sized hot tub, its own bungalow bar, and a large water slide. Speaking on the size of the pool, the Conroe-based company hired to complete the project, Kuykendall Custom Pools, Inc., told the Houston Chronicle that Mobley urged the company to continuously make the pool bigger. Why? Well, what's a home pool without all the bells and whistles?
