Ryan Mallett was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Texas playing for Texarkana High School. Mallett played college football at Arkansas where he was named Second-team All-SEC in 2009 and 2010. He was also named the AutoZone Liberty Bowl Offensive MVP and was the Premier Player of College Football Trophy Winner in 2010. He was drafted #74 by the New England Patriots in the 2011 NFL Draft. Mallett played for New England from 2011 to 2013. During his time with the Patriots Ryan won an AFC Championship as the backup to Tom Brady. In 2014 Mallett was traded to the Houston Texans where he played until 2015 when he was released. He played his final seasons, 2016 and 2017, with the Baltimore Ravens.

High School Career

Mallett attended Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas, where he excelled as a quarterback. College Career

Ryan Mallett initially enrolled at the University of Michigan in 2007, where he played as a backup quarterback during his freshman year. However, following a coaching change at Michigan, Mallett decided to transfer to the University of Arkansas, where he would spend the remainder of his college career. At Arkansas, Mallett's strong arm and ability to make big plays helped the Razorbacks become a force in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In his junior season, Mallett threw for 3,869 yards and 32 touchdowns, earning All-SEC honors.

NFL Draft and New England Patriots

Despite some concerns about his maturity and off-field issues, Ryan Mallett was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round (74th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Mallett served as the Patriots' third-string quarterback behind Tom Brady and Brian Hoyer, seeing limited action during the season.

Houston Texans

In 2014, Mallett was traded to the Houston Texans, where he would reunite with former Patriots offensive coordinator and then-Texans head coach Bill O'Brien. Mallett earned his first career start in Week 11 of the 2014 season, leading the Texans to a 23-7 victory over the Cleveland Browns. However, his time as a starter was short-lived, as he suffered a season-ending pectoral injury later that year.

Mallett returned to the Texans in 2015 but struggled with inconsistency and off-field issues, including being late for team meetings and missing a team flight. He was released by the Texans in October 2015.

Baltimore Ravens

In December 2015, Mallett signed with the Baltimore Ravens, where he would serve as the backup quarterback to Joe Flacco. Mallett saw limited playing time during his tenure with the Ravens, primarily filling in for Flacco during injuries or blowout victories. Mallett remained with the Ravens until the end of the 2017 season, when his contract expired.
