Lately, it seems like everything Amy Schumer touches turns to gold. We previously brought you the story of her book deal, which generated the third-highest book advance of all time, after Bill and Hillary Clinton. Now, Amy Schumer is set to make ten times more than she made for her last film, Trainwreck, in her newest role.
Schumer's career is really taking off with her new hour-long HBO comedy special, as a recent guest host of Saturday Night Live, and her huge book deal. She earned $300 thousand for starring in and writing the screenplay for Trainwreck, which grossed $138.3 million at the box office. Schumer will reportedly earn $4 to $5 million for her upcoming mother-daughter comedy film for Fox. Riding high off of her book deal, Amy apparently asked for $10 million for the starring role in the "upcoming untitled Amy Schumer project."
Amy Schumer started doing stand-up comedy in 2004 and was the first female comic to perform on both Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In 2012, she signed a book deal with HarperCollins for $500 thousand. Another publisher bumped their offer to $1 million after her TV series Inside Amy Schumer debuted. Amy cancelled her contract and later signed an advance for $9 million with Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery Books for her biography The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo.
Schumer had an uncredited role in the 2012 film Sleepwalk with Me and starred as Lily in the movie Price Check the same year. The same year she had a role in the movie Seeking a Friend for the End for the World which grossed $9.6 million on a $10 million budget. In addition to starring in her own show Inside Amy Schumer since 2013, the comedienne had a recurring role as Trish on the TV series, Delocated, in 2012. In 2015 she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
Even though Amy Schumer has not starred in many movies or TV shows, she seems to be able to get the most out of her star power. Just for writing one book and starring in one movie, she will make almost $15 million and doesn't have to work a day in her life again if she chooses not to.
