Performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the greatest opportunities a musician has to showcase their abilities to the entire world. Last year, 118.5 million people watched Katy Perry's halftime performance at the Super Bowl, which happened to be the most watched television program in American history. Needless to say, having the chance to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show is a great honor, an opportunity many people would say comes "once in a lifetime." But there is someone out there who recently got the chance to perform at the Super Bowl for a second time!

Bruno Mars has reportedly been invited by NFL officials to the halftime show for next year's Super Bowl 50, which will be held in Santa Clara, California. This comes just two years after he performed at Super Bowl XLVIII with Red Hot Chili Peppers. Mars's 2014 performance broke the viewership record at the time, and was widely praised by critics. Mars was asked by to "curate" the halftime show, which means that he'll likely be bringing guests to join him on stage. Mars has yet to accept the invitation, but if he does, he'll be joining a short list of performers who have performed at the halftime show more than once.

Justin Timberlake performed at the show in 2001 with *NSYNC, and infamously performed at the show in 2004, where he was a part of the Janet Jackson "nip slip" debacle. Nelly also performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in the same exact years as Justin Timberlake, performing his hit "Hot In Herre" in 2004.
The Queen of Super Bowl Halftime Shows though, is Gloria Estefan. She performed at the Super Bowl not one, not two, but THREE times! She performed at the event in 1992, 1995, and 1999. In 1992, she performed along with figure skaters Dorothy Hamill and Brian Boitano. In 1995, she performed along with Miami Sound Machine in an Indiana Jones themed halftime show. And in 1999, she performed along with Stevie Wonder, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Savion Glover.
As far as money is concerned, the NFL does not pay an appearance fee for an artist to perform at the halftime show. Interestingly enough, rumors spread last year the NFL actually wanted the artist to pay to perform at the show! That didn't end up happening. In any case, congrats to Bruno Mars for having the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl once again!
