What is Carrie Underwood's Net Worth?

Carrie Underwood is an American country music singer, fashion designer, songwriter, actress, and author who has a net worth of $120 million. Carrie Underwood rose to fame as the winner of the fourth season of "American Idol" in 2005. She has since become one of the most prominent mainstream recording artists in the music industry, setting and breaking several records throughout her career. Her debut album, 2005's "Some Hearts,"  was bolstered by the huge crossover success of the singles "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and "Before He Cheats." "Some Hearts" is the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history, the fastest-selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history, and the best-selling country album of the last 17 years. Underwood won three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist. The album sold 7 million copies.

Early Life

Carrie Underwood was born on March 10, 1983, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was raised on her parents' farm in the rural town of Checotah. Her father worked in a paper mill while her mother taught elementary school. She was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder at age five and was prescribed Ritalin and Dexedrine, medicines she still takes as an adult. During childhood, Carrie began performing at church and in local talent shows. A local fan encouraged Carrie's family to take her to Nashville at age 14 to audition for a record contract. Capital Records was interested but ultimately declined. After graduating from high school, Carrie initially walked away from her dreams of being a singer. She attended Northeastern State University. She spent part of one of her summers in college as a page for Oklahoma State Representative Bobby Frame. Underwood is an alumna of  Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She competed in numerous beauty pageants at the university and was selected as Miss NSU runner-up in 2004. Underwood graduated from college in 2006 magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mass communication and an emphasis in journalism.

American Idol

In the summer of 2004, Carrie auditioned for and was selected for "American Idol" season 4. During her time on the show, Simon predicted that Carrie would both win the competition and eventually outsell all other Idol contestants. Both of those predictions would come true. Carrie won Idol on May 24, 2005.

Her engagement ring features a 12-carat yellow diamond and is valued at $150,000. In September 2014, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. The couple's first son, Isaiah Michael Fisher, was born in 2015. In 2019, their second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher, was born.

Real Estate

Carrie Underwood's first big purchase after winning "American Idol" in 2005 was a 3,099-square-foot property in Franklin, Tennessee. She paid $384,000 for the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom home and sold it for $372,500 in 2007.

In 2010, Underwood and Fisher bought a mansion on eleven acres near Ottawa, Canada, in the luxurious Spruce Ridge district. The couple later put the mansion up for sale at an asking price of $2.2 million.

The couple sold their 7,000-square-foot Brentwood, Tennessee, home for $1.41 million in March 2020. Brentwood is a suburb southwest of Nashville, and Underwood had owned the home since 2007.  The home has four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a wet bar, a fitness center, and a tennis court. The home has a four-car garage, a walk-out basement with heated marble floors, and extra appliances, like a sub-zero fridge and wine fridge.

Carrie and her family live in their new "forever home," which Carrie and her husband designed together (presumably with the help of a professional architect). The house is in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. It is on over 300 acres of property, with plenty of space for their sons, horses, and dogs to enjoy.
