Deron Williams is already busy packing his bags and heading for Dallas, where he was signed with the Mavericks. But the former Nets guard has one more task before leaving New York: Selling his breathtaking Tribeca penthouse for $33.5 million.
Williams bought the residence two years ago for $15.8 million, so if he reaps the asking price he will make a 47.1% profit. Outstanding! So it seems that Williams has as much money sense as he does taste in property. The 6,800-square-foot property has six bedrooms and four and one-half bathrooms, which is just one indication of its scale and luxury. Another is its actual, real-deal professional kitchen. It has restaurant-grade everything, from stainless steel appliances to its freezer storage.
The dining room, with its wall of windows that reach to the ceiling and custom, modern art chandelier, looks out onto a stunning patio. That area is designed like a rock garden, with a small lily pond and foot bridge. It is also equipped with salon and dining room furniture, and everything else one needs to enjoy an evening under the stars. Hardwood floors, simple white walls and a floating staircase embellish the common area of the penthouse, which is steeped in a modern architectural style. And while some residences have a wine cellar, Williams has stored his collection in a wine room. The main living room has beautiful outside views and a fireplace, so if winter guests want to stay warm while admiring the stars in the sky and the lights of the city, well, they can do that, too.
Williams' bathrooms are every bit as luxurious and modern as one might find in a boutique hotel uptown, with glass mirrors cut and set like picture windows, and marble countertops. The bedrooms have wonderful views of the city, which are more like aerial perspectives, and the luxury of hardwood floors is carried throughout those quarters, too. Whatever price the property eventually fetches, it could be another score for Williams.
***UPDATE***
It took roughly five years but Deron finally did find a buyer for his penthouse. In November 2020 he inked a deal to sell the property for $16.4 million.
