Billionaire offspring don't have typical teen years. Recently, we told you about how some of the children of the one percent are taking their college tours not by station wagon, but by private jet. Now, the excess is spilling over into over-the-top Sweet Sixteen parties, quinceañeras, bar and bat mitzvahs, and other celebrations of teen rites of passage. These parties are getting bigger, better, more outlandish, and loads more expensive. Now, one resort is taking the bull by the horns and offering the ultimate party package for those billionaire parents who are too busy to plan their kid's party. The "Billionaire's Birthday Package" at Grand Velas Resort is for the teen that has it all. It is available at both the Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit locations in Mexico.
This exclusive party package will set mom and dad back $2 million. The "Billionaire's Birthday Package" includes transportation via private jet from anywhere in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico; a custom-made designer dress, edible gold popsicles, gift bags with an array of things including Apple iWatches for every guest, the party, and a firework show.
The package offers a three night stay in two bedroom presidential suites that sleep up to 10. Each day starts with a lavish breakfast. Guests can hit the pool or beach or go skydiving or fly boarding.
The main event of the weekend—the party– is on the beach and can accommodate up to 300 guests. This is no mere beach bonfire. Guests dance the night away to music by a famous DJ and enjoy a private performance from a top musical act such as Maroon 5 or Pitbull. The guest of honor will have a sand sculpture created for them and a fireworks show to celebrate the night.
Guests enjoy a candy bar and "mocktails" created by master mixologist Moises Sierra Saenz. Dinner is prepared by celebrity chef Mikel Alonso of the resort's acclaimed restaurant Cocina de Autor.
The guest of honor will be treated like a prince or princess with this party package. They get to enjoy a "Gold Treatment" from the resort's spa, and female guest receive a custom designer dress from top Mexican fashion designer Pineda Covalin.
The whole party will have access to the resort's Rent Your Rock program which allows guests, in this case teenagers, to borrow expensive, high end jewelry for the special occasion, including a four carat yellow canary diamond ring surrounded by 1.25 carats of diamonds.
Velas Resorts prides itself in providing the crème de la crème for all teenage milestone events.
