He was raised in Melbourne, Australia and became a trapeze artist in the circus at 16 years old. Dundee started to wrestle in 1962 and then moved to the United States as "Superstar" Bill Dundee in 1974. He wrestled in the Memphis Territory and teamed and feuded with Jimmy Valiant and Jerry Lawler. Dundee went to the American Wrestling Association where the won the AWA World Tag Team Titles twice with Lawler.
Dundee was the Southern Heavyweight Champion many times and also wrestled in NWA's Jim Crocket Promotions, Florida Championship Wrestling, and Central States Wrestling.
