Martin Handford is an English children's author and illustrator who has a net worth of $20 million dollars. Martin Handford was born in Hampstead, London, England in September 1956. He is best known for being the creator of Where's Waldo?. As a child Martin started drawing crowds and other pictures. He later worked in an insurance office which paid for his art degree at University for the Creative Arts. He then worked as a freelance illustrator specialized in crowd scenes. He created the album cover for The Vapors album Magnets in 1981.
His art director at Walker Books asked him to create a character that would be a focal point in crowds in 1986 and he created Wally. Walker Books published the Where's Wally? Series in the U.K. and under the name Where's Waldo? in the U.S. The line also included video games, notebooks, posters, pillows, and more. Martin sold the rights to Where's Wally? In 2007 to the Entertainment Rights Group.
